How Scoring Works

The key ideas interpreting assessors look at, and how KMN AI uses them in practice.

Meaning transfer

The full message reaches the listener, even if the words differ.

Accuracy

Facts, names, numbers and dates stay exactly the same.

Omissions

Leaving out information that was said.

Additions

Adding information that was not said.

Distortions

Changing the meaning, for example weeks becoming days.

Language quality

Clear, natural grammar and pronunciation.

Terminology

Using the right term for the setting, such as medical or legal words.

Register & fluency

Matching the tone and speaking smoothly without long pauses.

Example

“The appointment has been moved to next Thursday.”

Good interpretation

Meaning correctly transferred, including the new day.

Possible error

The student leaves out “next Thursday”.

KMN AI: Important information omitted: the new appointment date.

Error highlighting

Original

I have been waiting for approximately three weeks.

Student

I have been waiting for three days.

Critical meaning error: the duration was changed.
